Tavolara
The island of Tavolara (5.9 sq km) is located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, and is part of the municipality of Olbia in the sub-region of Gallura. It is characterized by the presence of a majestic limestone mountain, Mount Tavolara, over 560 meters high and visible from afar. The waters surrounding the island are clear and rich in marine fauna, making Tavolara a popular destination for diving enthusiasts. The island is also a destination for hiking and trekking, thanks to its naturalistic paths that cross the Mediterranean scrub.
Cala Brandinchi
In front of the Tavolara Marine Protected Area (established in 1997) lies one of the most famous beaches in Gallura: Cala Brandinchi, also known as “little Tahiti” for the whiteness of its sand and the shades of its water ranging from emerald green to turquoise, from azure to cobalt blue. The seabed is very shallow for tens of meters, creating a pool-like effect, ideal for swimming and children’s games.
Surrounding the beach are sandy dunes covered with junipers, reeds, sea lilies, and aromatic plants. Behind them, there is the greenery of well-manicured gardens and a pine forest providing shade, refreshments, and ample parking.
Lido del Faro is only 18 km away from Cala Brandinchi by taking the SS125 towards the south and turning left towards Capo Coda Cavallo.
From June 15th to September 15th, to visit the beach, it is necessary to make a reservation through the San Teodoro Spiagge app or website (santeodorospiagge.it) and pay an environmental fee to manage the anthropic load.
